Missions
We are called to care for all of God's children. We at St. Charles Presbyterian Church are engaged in local, national and international missions.
Local
Deacons sponsor the following:
- Meal-a-Month, collection of groceries each month for FISH, a local food pantry;
- Collection of coats, hats, mittens, socks, Easter baskets, summer fun toys and school supplies for FISH;
- Collection of tuna fish or dollars from the congregation once a month to be sent to FISH.
SCPC donated the land and part of the labor for a Habitat for Humanity house in St. Charles.
National:
- Festival of Sharing: members of the congregation bring kits, which are given to the Festival of Sharing four times a year to be used within the state of Missouri.
- A Family Mission Trip is planned each summer.
- The youth of SCPC have built, in Pensacola, Florida, 15 houses for Habitat for Humanity.
- College students went on a mission trip to Pensacola during the winter break.
International:
Joining Hands against Hunger: Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy is part of this program, and the country is Peru; St. Charles Presbyterian Church is a participating church; our focus is offering a fair trade corridor for artisan's items to be sold in the United States. SCPC helps to price and pack items for shipment throughout the U.S. and have at our church two to three sales each year. We also participate by selling Fair Exchange Coffee.
